Over the last several years I’ve been exploring consciousness and money, as two of the things with the most impact on our planet. How do they relate to one another? How can we get them to work well together?
To be frank with you, my interest arose out of my experiences of a widespread lack of financial maturity or integrity in spiritual communities. I didn’t need to look very closely to discover that I, too, was part of the problem.
Keen to improve my financial acumen, I felt challenged when most of the resources available seemed to be in opposition to values that I hold dear: a commitment to healthy people, communities, the ecosystems that sustain me and us, and our common future.
So where does one go to learn about financial health that is applicable to a holistic or spiritual life?
Attempting to answer this question, I requested an interview with Joel Solomon, President of Renewal Partners and Chairman of Renewal Funds, two pioneering enterprises in the field of social impact investing. Solomon is also a founding member of the Social Venture Network, whose mission is “To support and empower diverse, innovative leaders who leverage business to serve the greater good.”
What a great idea it was to talk to Joel about this topic! My brain got a good massage as I felt my views on money and consciousness and business morphing. This short video is the first in a series; Joel shares the philosophical underpinnings that led him to set up Renewal and the role of business in social impact today.
